Belt Requirements



Promotion requirements may vary depending on which Kobukan dojo a student attends. The below list shows the recommended standards for belt advancement for training at one of our locations. Home study students follow a modified curriculum. (See the home study page for details)

Students must be proficient in all material from each preceding belt in order to be promoted to the next level color belt.  Students are eligible for testing only with instructor approval.  Time between belt testing is 3-6 months, depending on student’s progress and level of motivation.  The average time to achieve Black Belt is 3 1/2 to 4 years
